CDS Syllabus Details:The Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination will be held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in order to fill a number of positions in the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and Officers Training Academy. Details of the CDS syllabus are provided here.
PAPER – 1: ENGLISH:The purpose of the question paper is to assess applicants’ proficiency in English and their ability to use language in a workmanlike manner.
PAPER – 2: GENERAL KNOWLEDGE: General knowledge is the understanding of current affairs, as well as the scientific components of ordinary observation and experience, as may be expected of an educated individual who hasn’t specifically studied any scientific field. Additionally, there will be questions on geography and Indian history in the paper that the candidate should be able to answer without further study.
PAPER – 3: ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS:
Arithmetic: Natural, integer, rational, and real numbers make up the number system. Basic operations include square roots, decimal fractions, multiplication, division, and addition and subtraction. Unitary technique, percentages, applications to simple and compound interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, variation, and time and distance as well as time and effort.
Elementary Number Theory–Dividend formula. both composite and prime numbers. Divisibility tests for 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, and 11. factors and multiples. The factorization process The idea. Laws of logarithms, logarithmic tables, logarithms to base 10, and the Euclidean method by H.C.F. and L.C.M.
ALGEBRA
Fundamental Operations, basic components, Theorem of Remainder, H.C.F., L.C.M. Studying polynomials, Relationship between the roots and coefficients of quadratic equations: solutions (only real roots must be considered). Parallel linear equations with two unknowns: graphical and analytical solutions. simultaneous linear equations with two variables and their solutions. Real-world issues resulting in two linear equations that can be solved simultaneously, equations with two variables, or quadratic equations with one variable and their solutions. Reasoned statements with conditional identities, set language and set notation, the index laws.
TRIGONOMETRY
For 0 ≤x ≤90, sine x, cosine x, and tangent x Values for x = 0, 30, 45, 60, and 90 in terms of sin, cos, and tan x
Trigonometric identities made simple. Applying trigonometric tables. basic situations involving heights and lengths.
GEOMETRY
Angles and lines, Flight and flight figures, Congruency of triangles, similar triangles, medians and altitudes converging, properties of angles, sides, and diagonals of a parallelogram, rectangle, and square, and properties of parallel lines, angles at a point, sides and angles of a triangle, congruency of triangles, and similar triangles are among the theorems on which this can be applied. (viii) Circles and their characteristics, such as their normal and tangents, Loci (ix).
MENSURATION
Areas formed by triangles, circles, parallelograms, squares, and rectangles. Figures’ sections that can be divided into these figures (Field Book), Cuboid surface area and volume, right circular cone and cylinder lateral surface and volume, and spherical surface area and volume.
STATISTICS
Gathering and compiling statistical information, Frequency and representation in graphics Pie charts, bar charts, histograms, polygons, etc. central tendency measurements.

CDS Eligibility Details:The Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination will be held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in order to fill a number of positions in the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and Officers Training Academy. The requirements to apply for the Combined Defence Services Exam are as follows.
Eligibility Details:
1. Nationality:A candidate must be either
(i) An Indian citizen;
(ii) A subject of Nepal;
(iii) An individual of Indian descent who has immigrated to India with the goal of settling there permanently from Vietnam, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African nations such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia.
With the caveat that an applicant falling under categories (ii) or (iii) must be the recipient of an eligibility certificate from the Indian government.
2. Age Limit:
(i) For IMA:Male candidates who are single and were born between January 2, 1998, and January 1, 2003, are now eligible to apply.
(ii) Indian Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born on or before January 1, 1998, and January 1, 2003, are eligible to apply.
(iii) For the Air Force Academy: single men between the ages of 20 and 24 as of July 1, 2021, meaning they were born between July 02, 1997, and July 01, 2001 (The upper age restriction is lenient up to 26 years for candidates who possess a valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India), meaning they must have been born between 02/07/1995 and 01/07/2001.
(iv) The Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for Men) : Male applicants who are single and born between 02/07/1996 and 01/07/2002 are eligible to apply.
(v) For the SSC Women Non-Technical Course at Officers Training Academy: Women who are single, widows without children who haven’t been married, and issueless divorcees with divorce decrees who haven’t tied the knot are all qualified. Their due dates are as follows: 02-01-1996 for them, and 01-01-2002 for them.
Note: Male applicants who have divorced or become widowed are not eligible for IMA/INA/AFA/OTA, Chennai courses since they cannot be admitted as single male candidates.
3. Educational Qualification:
(i) For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy: Degrees from accredited universities or their equivalents.
(ii) Engineering degree from accredited university or institution for Indian Naval Academy admission.
(iii) Bachelor of Engineering or a degree from an accredited university with 10+2 mathematics and physics coursework is required for admission to the Air Force Academy.
Note: Applicants who are enrolled in the last year of their degree program but have not yet passed the final year exam are also welcome to apply.
Physical Standards: In order to be admitted to the Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2021, candidates must meet certain physical fitness requirements.

CDS Exam Pattern:The Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination will be held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in order to fill a number of positions in the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and Officers Training Academy. Details about the UPSC CDS exam pattern are provided below.
1.Written Exam:
i. Written exams have objective-type questions, last for two hours, and have a maximum mark of 100 per subject.
ii. Candidates taking written exams in English, general knowledge, and elementary mathematics for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy; candidates taking written exams in English and general knowledge for admission to the Officers Training Academy.
iii. The relevant service HQ will inform candidates who are deemed successful in the written exam of their preference for intelligence and personality testing at the Service Selection Board.
(A) For Admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy:

The maximum number of marks available for both the written exam and the interviews will be the same. For example, the highest possible scores for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, and Officers Training Academy will be 300, 300, 300, and 200 for the written exam and the interview, respectively.
All of the subject papers will solely include objective-style questions. Both Hindi and English versions of the General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics question papers will be available.
Only questions involving the metric system of weights and measures will be included in the exam papers, if needed.
2. Intelligence & Personality Test: Interview invitations are sent to the candidates who make the cut on the written exam. Stage I and Stage II of the SSB procedure are the two stages of the selection process. Candidates are only allowed to appear for Stage II if they pass Stage I.
a. Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) exams, such as the Picture Perception Description Test (PP&DT), include Stage I. The OIR Test and PP&DT results will be combined to determine whether candidates make the short list.
b. The activities in Stage II include the conference, psychology tests, group testing officer tasks, and interviews. Four days are dedicated to these tests.
Three distinct assessors evaluate a candidate’s personality: the psychologist, the group testing officer, and the interviewing officer (IO). Every test has the same weighting; none are different. Assessors only award marks after carefully evaluating a candidate’s overall performance throughout the entire exam.
