SSC Stenographer Syllabus

SSC Stenographer Eligibility:The eligibility information for the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Stenographers (Grade C&D) Examination are provided below.

Eligibility Criteria:
A. Nationality / Citizenship: A candidate must be either:

• (a) a citizen of India, or
• (b) a subject of Nepal, or
• (c) a subject of Bhutan, or
• (d) an Indian national who moved to India with the goal of residing there permanently from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam.

B.Age Limit:

(a) Stenographer Grade C: 18 to 30 years as on 01-08-2023

(b) Stenographer Grade D: 18 to 27 years as on 01-08-2023

C. Educational Qualification:Candidate must have graduated from a recognized board or university with a 12th standard or its equivalent.

1-According to a Ministry of Human Resource Development notification dated June 10, 2015, published in the Indian Gazette, all degrees, diplomas, and certificates awarded by universities established by state legislatures or by acts of parliament through the open and distance learning modes of education, as well as institutions deemed to be universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, and institutions of national importance declared under an act of parliament, are automatically recognized for employment purposes toward positions and services under the Central Government, provided that they have been approved by the University Grants Commission’s Distance Education Bureau. Nonetheless, these degrees need to be accepted for the relevant time frame in which the applicant obtained the relevant certification.

2-The University Grants Commission (UGC) (Open and Distance Learning) Regulations, 2017 prohibit the offering of programs in engineering, medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, architecture, and physical therapy, among other fields, under Part-III (8) (v) of the official Gazette, which was published on June 23, 2017. In light of the ruling in Mukul Kumar Sharma & others v. AICTE and others, the Honorable Supreme Court Order dated 11-03-2019 in MA No. 3092/2018 in W.P. (C) No. 382/2018 states that, in the relevant cases, B. Tech. degrees or diplomas in Engineering awarded by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to students who were enrolled up until the academic year 2009–10 shall be considered valid.

3- On or before the cut-off date, all selected candidates who are called in by the User Department/Organization for the purpose of document verification must present the necessary certificates, such as mark sheets from all previous years’ examinations, the 12th Standard or equivalent examination, provisional certificates, etc., in original as evidence of having obtained the necessary training and work experience in the relevant field, if necessary. If they fail to do so, the User Department/Organization will cancel their candidature.

4- Candidates shall also be considered to meet the essential educational qualification if they can demonstrate, via documentary evidence, that the results of the examination of essential educational qualification were announced on or before the cut-off date and that they have been declared passed. It is emphasized once more that the school, board, institute, or university must have announced the results of the required educational qualification before the deadline. The EQ criterion is not satisfied by the School, Board, Institute, or University processing the results by the deadline alone.

5- Candidates with comparable educational backgrounds must also present the appropriate Equivalency Certificate from the competent authorities during the Document Verification process. The concerned User Departments, Organizations, or Appointing Authorities will make the final decision regarding the selection of such individuals.
f) Prior to the deadline for accepting online applications, candidates must meet the Essential Educational Qualification.
